White Oaks Girls on the Run

The Northern Virginia Girls on the RunŽ program, of which White Oaks is a part, is one of the largest in the US. Our big day will be on December 6 when all of our White Oaks Girls on the RunŽ team will run together at the 3rd Annual Reindeer Romp in Reston VA. There will be 5000 runners including 2600 Girls on the RunŽ participants from over 160 schools in the Northern Virginia Girls on the RunŽ Program. They will be racing, running, walking and or skipping but ALL will finish and ALL will have the sense of accomplishment and pride deserved in consummating their hard work and hours of effort!

Registration for this, the inaugural season of White Oaks GOTR, was incredibly fast...less than 3 minutes to fill the 20 spots in our on-line call in registration. We are limited by the organization to 20 girls to keep the program individualized as well as work within the constraints of the final event restricted to a limited number of runners. Northern Virginia GOTR is now one of the largest groups in the US and has dozens of schools on their waiting list to register for future sessions for their school. We feel so fortunate to offer it to White Oaks, and hope to offer future sessions. The spring session is yet to be determined, but information will go out by early January for the 3rd through 6th grade classrooms.

Thanks to the White Oaks PTA for supporting the program, and for all the White Oaks staff who encourage our girls as they walk into the building every morning! It means a lot to each of the girls to receive your encouragement. So, while you are sleeping in this morning...remember to go to school and congratulate your classmates who are part of the White Oaks Girls on the RunŽ, today!
